 Walks from Locko Park

Locko Park is an ideal place to go walking; a bridleway passes through the park, past the lake, affording the visitor a grand sight of the hall.

You can take a stroll through the park end-to-end or pass through and explore the nearby villages (and pubs!) of Spondon, Ockbrook and Dale Abbey.

Walk One:
Locko Park end-to-end

A stroll through the park on the bridleway past the lake, including one moderately steep hill.

About 1.25 miles each way.

Walk Two:
Locko Park to Dale Abbey
end-to-end

Undulating bridleway from Locko to the historic village of Dale with the ruins of the abbey and one of the finest pubs in the country!

About 3 miles each way

Walk Three:
Locko, Dale, Ockbrook, Spondon circular

Wonderful circuit through the park, venturing on to the ruined abbey at Dale and the village of Ockbrook before meandering back to Locko

About 7 miles all the way round.

Getting to Locko

By Car:

There are two places to park at either end of the bridleway:

South:- the road between Oakwood and Spondon has a lay-by close to the South Lodge entrance.

East:- There is a parking area at the top of an unmarked turnoff on the A6096 Spondon -Ilkeston road, about half a mile out of Spondon village.

Click here to access Streetmap. co.uk. and then search for a map based on the postcode DE21 7BW.

By public transport:

Unfortunately, Locko Park is not on a bus route. The closest service serves the village of Spondon (the 'Spondon Flyer' from Derby city centre.

Locko's South Lodge is about a one mile walk from Sancroft Avenue in Spondon (alight at the Moor Lane stop).
